The Dallas Cowboys head to Detroit for a game against the Lions on Sunday after losing last Sunday night to the Minnesota Vikings by the score of 28-24. Dak Prescott was 28 of 46 passing for 397 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception. Ezekiel Elliot had a below average day on the ground as he rushed 20 times fir 47 yards and was never able to break through against the Vikings defense. Amari Cooper had another big game receiving as he caught 11 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. The Dallas defense allowed 364 total yards to the Vikings and were worn down by Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook who carries the ball 26 times for 97 yards and a touchdown.
On the year, the Dallas Cowboys are now 5-4 which is good enough for 1st place in the NFC East. Dak Prescott has thrown for 2,777 yards this season which also includes throwing 18 touchdowns passes against 9 interceptions. Ezekiel Elliot has carried the ball 178 times for 788 yards and 6 touchdowns so far this year. Amari Cooper has been the Cowboys leading receiver on the year and has caught 53 passes for 848 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Cowboys currently have 3 players listed on their injury report as Jeff Heath is listed as questionable and Cameron Fleming and Connor Williams are listed as out.
The Detroit Lions welcome the Dallas Cowboys into town after losing their last game in Chicago to the Bears by the score of 20-13. Quarterback Jeff Driskel took the spot of Matthew Stafford in the game and completed 27 of 46 passes for 269 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Driskel was also the Lions lead rusher on the day as he carried the ball 5 times for 37 yards. The lead receiver for the Lions was Marvin Jones Jr. who caught 5 passes for 77 yards but didn’t record a touchdown. The Lions defense allowed a total of 226 yards to the Bears and held Chicago to just 81 yards on the ground.
With the loss, Detroit Is now 3-5-1 on the season and is in 4th place in the NFC North. Although Driskel played well in his first start of the season against the Bears, Matthew Stafford has led the Lions most of this season and has thrown for 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Kerryon Johnson who is on injured reserve is on injured reserve but still leads the Lions in rushing as he has carried the ball 92 times for 308 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kenny Golladay has been the Lions lead receiver on the year as he has caught 38 passes for 697 yards and 8 touchdowns on the season. The Lions have been decimated by injuries all season and currently have 5 players listed on their injury report along with Kerryon Johnson being on injured reserve as De’Shawn Hand, Romeo Okwara, Miles Killebrew, Tracy Walker and Matthew Stafford are all listed as out for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.
Dallas has scored 27.9 points per game on the season and has allowed 18.9 points per game. Detroit has scored 24.1 points per game and has allowed 26.3 points per game. Dallas has averaged 446.8 yards per game while allowing 343.8 yards per game. Detroit has gained an average of 403.8 yards per game while allowing 416.3 yards per game. Dallas is 2-3 in their last 5 games while Detroit is 1-4 in their last 5. With Matt Stafford listed as out once again, I don’t see Detroit having a chance in this game. Dallas is simply too talented and will be able to outscore the Detroit offense. Cowboys win 35-17 and cover the spread.
