The Line: New York Giants +4 -- Over/Under: 44.5
The New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers face off on Sunday in a NFL week 11 matchup.
The New York Giants are sinking fast as they sit at 3-6 and in third place in the NFC East. The Giants just don’t seem to have it working on either side of the ball and the playoffs seem like a long shot at this point. The Giants offense is averaging 21.7 points and 343.4 yards per game but of late they haven’t had answers in the second half. Eli Manning has completed 62.9 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions. Andre Williams has rushed for 335 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Giants ground game and Rueben Randle has 43 catches to lead the New York receivers. The Giants defense is allowing 27.4 points and a 32nd ranked 404.9 yards per game. Jacquian Williams has 78 tackles, Jameel McClain has 59 tackles, and Antrelle Rolle has 46 tackles. The Giants are hoping for a strong finish to the season.
The San Francisco 49ers are coming off of a win that raised their record to 5-4 and put them back in the playoff hunt. The 49ers offense is averaging 21.7 points and 343.9 yards per game and they rallied late last week to force overtime. QB Colin Kaepernick has completed 61.9 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions and he has rushed for 298 yards. Frank Gore is the 49ers leading rusher with 553 yards and Anquan Boldin is San Francisco’s leading receiver with 51 catches and Michael Crabtree has 40 receptions. Defensively the 49ers allow 22.4 points and a NFL second best 3-6.4 yards per game and they are plus six in turnover ratio. Antoine Bethea has 51 tackles, Chris Borland has 50 tackles, and Patrick Willis has 34 tackles. The 49ers have the talent they just need to put it all together down the stretch and they are going to be tough to beat.
New York is 2-5 against the spread against the NFC, 1-4 against the spread following a loss, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four games. San Francisco is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games against a team with a losing home record, 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 road games, and 5-2 against the spread in November. San Francisco is 1-7 against the spread in the last eight meetings of these two.
The total is set at 43.5 and despite the bad weather I see this one going over that number. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
