The Line: Indianapolis Colts -7.5 -- Over/Under: 45.5
The Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans face off on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in an AFC South NFL matchup.
The Indianapolis Colts go their first win of the season last Sunday knocking around the Jacksonville Jaguars after losing to the Broncos and the Eagles in the first two weeks. The Colts offense has had no problems ranking third in points at 31.7 per game and third in yards at 426 per game. Andrew Luck is running the show for the Colts completing 68.3 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Trent Richardson is looking to silence the doubters in the running game but he is averaging 3.8 yards per carry but Ahmad Bradshaw is averaging 6.0 yards per carry and catching 12 passes with three of them going for touchdowns. Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton are as good as any receiving combination in the NFL and Hakeem Nicks should become more of a part of the Colts game plan. The Colts have a ton of injuries and the defense simply hasn’t been good enough allowing a 27th ranked 26 points per game and a 29th ranked 387.7 yards per game. D’Qwell Jackson leads the Indy defense with 22 tackles, LaRon Landry has 20 tackles, and Greg Toler has two interceptions. The Colts offense can hang with anyone but the defense is struggling without Robert Mathis to generate any kind of pass rush or pressure on the QB.
The Tennessee Titans opened their season with a win over the Chiefs but since then it has been losses to the Bengals and Cowboys giving them a 1-2 record thus far. The Titans offense has struggled averaging just 14.3 points per game ranking them 31st in the NFL and 348.3 yards per game that ranks them 16th. Titans QB Jake Locker appears to still be learning completing just 56.4 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and four interceptions. Shonn Greene has gotten the bulk of the carries for Tennessee averaging 4.8 yards per carry while rookie Bishop Sankey is averaging 4.9 yards per touch. Delanie Walker has been Lockers primary Target with 17 catches while Kendall Wright has 14. With the Titans offense struggling the defense has been in tough spots and they rank 19th in points allowed at 23 per game but fifth in yards allowed at 304.3 per game. Bernard Pollard has 21 tackles, Wesley Woodyard has 19 tackles, and Jason McCourty has two interceptions. The Titans defense should be tested once again this week.
Indianapolis is 6-1 against the spread against the AFC, 13-3 against the spread against the AFC South, and 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games. Tennessee is 1-3-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall. Tennessee is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games in Indianapolis.
The total seems to be moving up in this one but my play here is solidly on the under and that is my free pick.
