The Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville Jaguars square off from EverBank Field in week 9 NFL action on Sunday afternoon.
The Cincinnati Bengals will look to climb back to .500 after getting to 3-4 with a 24-23 win over Indianapolis in their last outing. Andy Dalton threw for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns on 17 of 29 passing while the Bengals’ ground attack combined for just 58 rushing yards on 21 carries as a team. Mixon led the team with 18 rushing yards on 11 carries, while also leading the team with 91 receiving yards on 3 catches. Tyler Kroft caught a team-high 5 passes for 46 yards and Brandon LaFell hauled in 4 balls for 44 yards while Josh Malone and A.J. Green each looked a TD grab in the win. Defensively, the Bengals combined for 4 sacks and an interception courtesy of Carlos Dunlap who took the pick back 16-yards for a touchdown that was the eventual game-winner as the Bengals gave up 331 yards of total offense in the win.
The Jacksonville Jaguars come into this one rested after their bye week, and will look to regain the division lead in the AFC South after a 27-0 win over the same Indianapolis Colts in week 7. Blake Bortles threw for 330 yards and a touchdown on 18 of 26 passing, while T.J. Yeldon took his 9 carries and turned it into a team-leading 122 yards and a touchdown. Chris Ivory added 47 rushing yards and a TD of his own on 17 carries, while Allen Hurns led the Jags in receiving with 5 catches for 101 yards. Marqise Lee led the team with 4 catches for 72 yards, while Marcedes Lewis hauled in the Jaguars’ lone receiving TD in the win. Defensively, the Jaguars combined for a whopping 10 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles while holding the Colts to just 232 yards of total offense in the shutout win.
Cincinnati is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 15-3 in their last 18 games in November. Jacksonville is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games against a team with a losing road record. Cincinnati is 3-0-2 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Cincinnati has had the bulk of the success ATS in this matchup, but this is easily the best Jaguars team we’ve seen in the last few years. The Jaguars come into this game rested so they may get Fournette back, but even if they don’t they showed that they have the depth to get the job done, while Cincinnati struggled against the same Colts just last week. I’ll lay the points with the Jaguars here in a game I think Jacksonville takes from beginning to end.
