The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins face off on Sunday in Jacksonville in an in state NFL battle of AFC teams.
The Jacksonville Jaguars finally got into the win column last week bouncing the Browns in blowout fashion. The Jaguars are last in the NFL in average points per game at 15 and 31st in yards 296.6 per game. Blake Bortles is taking his lumps as a rookie starter but he has completed 65.5 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart have both been carrying the football with Robinson averaging 4.4 yards per carry and Allen Robinson is the leading receiver with 34 catches. The Jacksonville defense ranks 27th in both yards allowed and points allowed per game and they are minus eight in turnover ratio. Paul Posluszny has 69 tackles, Johnathan Cyprien has 43 tackles, and Chris Clemons has 4.0 sacks. The Jaguars are a work in progress.
The Miami Dolphins are coming off of a big win in Chicago following a week where they let a win get away late at home against the Packers. The Dolphins are 3-3 this season and rank 11th in the NFL in points per game at 24.5 and 12thin yards per game. QB Ryan Tannehill has completed 63.3 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. Lamar Miller leads the Dolphins ground attack averaging 4.8 yards per carry wit four touchdowns and Mike Wallace is the leading receiver with 30 catches and five touchdowns. The Dolphins defense allows 23 points and 313.7 yards per game with that being the fourth fewest yards allowed per game in the NFL. Jelani Jenkins has 47 tackles, Cameron Wake has 4.5 sacks, and Brent Grimes has 30 tackles. The Dolphins are at a pivotal point where there season can go either direction, up or down.
Jacksonville is 16-34-1 against the spread in their last 51 home games, 2-7-1 against the spread in their last 10 games, and 3-9-1 against the spread following a win. Miami is 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a losing home record, 6-2 against the spread after gaining more than 350 yards in their previous game, and 7-0 against the spread after allowing less than 250 yards their previous game. The favorite is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last six meetings of these two.
