The Line: Jacksonville Jaguars +3.5 -- Over/Under: 40
The Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars clash Sunday afternoon in a NFL matchup at EverBank Field.
The Minnesota Vikings are desperate for a bounce back victory to get a game above a .500 record. The Minnesota Vikings have lost four straight road games. Sam Bradford is completing 71.2 percent of his passes for 2,662 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. Bradford has one or less touchdown passes in six of his last seven games. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen have combined for more than 1,463 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Kyle Rudolph has 54 receptions. The Minnesota Vikings ground game is averaging 72.4 yards per contest, and Jerick McKinnon leads the way with 357 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Minnesota is allowing 17.4 points and 303.4 yards per game. Harrison Smith leads the Minnesota Vikings with 84 tackles, Danielle Hunter has 9.5 sacks and Xavier Rhodes has four interceptions.
The Jacksonville Jaguars could also use a victory that would snap a seven-game losing streak. The Jacksonville Jaguars lost six of their last seven home games. Blake Bortles is completing 58.4 percent of his passes for 2,930 yards, 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Bortles has two or more touchdown passes in five of his last six games. Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee have combined for more than 1,237 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while Allen Hurns has 35 receptions. The Jacksonville Jaguars ground game is averaging 101.1 yards per contest, and T.J. Yeldon leads the way with 373 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Jacksonville is allowing 26.1 points and 311.3 yards per game. Paul Posluszny leads the Jacksonville Jaguars with 97 tackles, Malik Jackson has 4.5 sacks and Telvin Smith has five pass deflections.
The Vikings are 7-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 36-15 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The Jaguars are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The over is 9-4 in Jaguars last 13 home games and the under is 21-8-1 in Vikings last 30 games overall.
The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't as bad as their record, as they've lost a lot of close games, including a 10-point loss last week to the Denver Broncos. In fact, the Jags have lost five straight games by single digits and seven of their 10 losses this season have been that way as well. However, the Minnesota Vikings are easily the better team here and has the defense to shutdown this struggling Jacksonville offense. This line isn't high enough for me to back the Jags given Minnesota is still playing for a playoff spot. Give me the Vikings by a touchdown.
