The Line: Jacksonville Jaguars -3 -- Over/Under: 39.5
One of the marquee matchups in week 14 pits the Seattle Seahawks against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon.
The Seattle Seahawks will look to keep their momentum going after a 24-10 win over Philadelphia to improve to 8-4 this season after week 13’s edition of Sunday Night Football. Russell Wilson threw for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 of 31 passing, while Mike Davis led the Seattle ground attack with 16 carries for 64 yards. Doug Baldwin led the team with 5 catches for 84 yards, while Nick Vannett added 40 receiving yards and the aforementioned Davis added 4 catches. Jimmy Graham, Tyler Lockett and J.D. McKissic each added a touchdown grab for the Seahawks in the win. On defense, the Seahawks combined for 3 sacks and an interception, but gave up 425 yards of total offense to the Eagles in the winning effort.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will try to keep their momentum going after a 30-10 victory over Indianapolis in their last outing to climb to 8-4 this season. Blake Bortles threw for 309 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 26 of 35 passing, while Leonard fournette led the Jags’ ground attack with 57 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Marqise Lee led the Jaguars with 7 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown, while Dede Westbrok added 6 catches for 78 yards and KEelan Cole chipped in a touchdown grab of his own in the win. Marcedes Lewis chipped in 4 catches for 46 yards as well in the winning effort. Defensively, the Jaguars combined for 4 sacks, a pair of interceptions and a forced fumble, while holding the Colts to 290 yards of total offense and just over 26 minutes of possession in the game.
Seattle is 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Jacksonville is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Seattle is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I know that the Jaguars have impressed this season and are probably going to be a team to watch when the playoffs start. However, this is still a young team that’s getting their first real taste of substantial success and an experienced team like Seattle could be a reality check for Jacksonville. Sure, the Seahawks could be in for a letdown spot after beating the best team in the league in primetime, but the Seahawks are a well-coached team and have the experience in these tough road situations. I like the Jaguars, but I think not enough respect is being given to Seattle here, so I’ll take the Seahawks and the points here.
