The Houston Texans and the Los Angeles Chargers will meet up in NFL Week 3 activity on Sunday.
Houston enters this game at 1-1 on the year. The Texans fell in their opener to the Saints 30-28, but then got a victory over the Jaguars in a close one 13-12 in Week 2.
In the Week 2 game, Texans QB Deshaun Watson logged 159 yards and a rush TD, and Carlos Hyde led the run on 90 yards. DeAndre Hopkins was the top Houston receiver there with 40 yards from five balls.
Over on the Chargers’ side, they’re 1-1 as well. LA bagged a 30-24 OT victory over the Colts in the opener, then followed that up with a limp 13-10 loss to the Lions.
In the Week 2 defeat, LA QB Philip Rivers had 293 yards and a pick, and Austin Ekeler had 66 yards with a TD. Keenan Allen was the lead receiver with eight catches for 98 yards.
The Texans are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 in Week 3. Houston is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five versus the AFC and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 on grass.
Meanwhile, the Chargers are 0-4 ATS in their last four in Week 3 and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four in September. LA is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss.
Houston’s Week 2 win certainly wasn’t pretty, but it goes down as a win and gets the team up to .500 on the young year. Considering the Chargers have had troubles in both their games so far, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one close as well. Still, the line isn’t thick enough to push me off LA here.
