The Line: Miami Dolphins +3 -- Over/Under: 48
The Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers face off on Sunday in Miami in a Week 6 NFL matchup.
The Miami Dolphins are off to a 2-2 start tot the season and are coming off of a bye week after beating the Raiders in London. It has been up and down for the Dolphins so far with a big win over the Patriots to start the season followed by disappointing losses before last game’s win. While the Dolphins pounded the Raiders, QB Ryan Tannehill continues to be under the microscope from both the coaches and the fans as his 60 percent completion percentage and his six touchdowns and three interceptions just hasn’t instilled any confidence as it seems when he is hot he is hot but when he is cold, he is awful. Knowshawn Moreno is still out so it will still be Lamar Miller carrying the load and he should get some help as center Mike Pouncey may play for the first time this year. Mike Wallace is having a much better year than he did a year ago with three touchdowns and 20 catches as Miami has more weapons in the passing game with Charles Clay, Brian Hartline, and Jarvis Landry. Defensively the Dolphins love to bring pressure and they have 11 sacks thus far this season. Jelani Jenkins is the Dolphins leading tackler while Koa Misi should return but Derrick Shelby has been suspended following an arrest. The book is still out on this Dolphins team and of course this is a huge game for them on many levels.
Aaron Rodgers told Green Bay Packers fans not to panic a few weeks back and he has delivered as the Pack have won their last two games. Green Bay put on a clinic last time out waxing the Vikings on a Thursday Night at Lambeau Field. Rodgers has thrown just one interception this year and 12 TD passes while being sacked 12 times. Eddie Lacy continues to see the bulk of the carries for the Packers but James Starks looks to be in the form he was a few years ago when the Packers won the Super Bowl. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb have been outstanding with four and six touchdowns each respectively and 58 catches between them. The Packers are plus six in the turnover department as it has been a group effort on defense. Morgan Burnet is Green Bay’s leading tackler followed by A.J. Hawk and Mike Daniels leads the Packers in sacks with 2.5. The question mark for the Packers will still be if heir defense can handle the physical teams but If hey can continue to create turnovers they can handle anyone.
Miami is 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 home games, 15-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 5-1 against the spread at home against a team with a winning road record. Green Bay is 4-0-1 against the spread on grass and 5-0 against the spread in October games.
The defenses are decent here but the Packers present a lot of problems for Miami despite Rodgers getting sacked plenty. The main issue is that Green Bay can put points on the board so Miami will be forced to keep up and with a QB like Tannehill, that’s an invitation for turnovers into a defense that specializes in creating turnovers. Green Bay should win comfortably.
