Miami Dolphins +18.5 O/U: 47
The New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins will match up on the NFL circuit for Week 2 activity on Sunday.
The Patriots opened up at 1-0 this year with a big victory over the Steelers, jumping out to a 20-0 lead in the first half. New England added 13 more afterward for a 33-3 win.
In the victory Week 1, Patriots QB Tom Brady put up 341 yards with three touchdowns, and Rex Burkhead added 44 rush yards. Phillip Dorsett was the top New England receiver on 95 yards and two scores.
Over on the Miami side, they were on the wrong side of a blowout Week 1, coughing up 42 first-half points. When it was over, the Dolphins were humiliated in a 59-10 defeat.
Ryan Fitzpatrick stumbled to 185 yards, one TD and one pick in the Week 1 loss, and Kenyan Drake led an anemic rush with just 12 yards. DeVante Parker was the Phins’ top receiver there on 75 yards from three grabs.
The Patriots are 4-0 ATS in their last four versus the AFC and 4-1 ATS in their last five in Week 2. New England is 6-2 ATS in their last eight versus the AFC East and 19-7 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 12-26-1 ATS in their last 39 after an ATS loss. Miami is 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
The Patriots posted their big Week 1 win on the national stage, and as a result they’re the darlings of the AFC once again. That also explains the huge line here—that and Miami’s embarrassing Week 1 defeat.
Still, New England has historically had issues against Miami regardless of records, and with the line this thick I have to take the Dolphins.
