The Line: New England Patriots -13 -- Over/Under: 44.5
The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots meet Sunday afternoon in a NFL matchup at Gillette Stadium.
The Los Angeles Rams could use a feel good road victory after losing six of their last seven games. The Los Angeles Rams have split their last eight road games. Jared Goff is completing 58.7 percent of his passes for 348 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Goff enters this game with 63 career pass attempts under his belt. Kenny Britt and Brian Quick have combined for more than 1,233 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Lance Kendricks has 41 receptions. The Los Angeles Rams ground game is averaging 83.1 yards per contest, and Todd Gurley leads the way with 641 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Los Angeles is allowing 21.5 points and 339.8 yards per game. Alec Ogletree leads the Los Angeles Rams with 98 tackles, Aaron Donald has six sacks and Mark Barron has two interceptions.
The New England Patriots look for their 10th victory of the season to pad their current lead in the AFC East. Three of the New England Patriots five losses have come at home. Tom Brady is completing 68.4 percent of his passes for 2,201 yards, 18 touchdowns and one interception. Brady has two or more touchdown passes in 10 of his last 13 games. Julian Edelman and Martellus Bennett have combined for more than 1,157 receiving yards and six touchdowns while Rob Gronkowski has 25 receptions. The New England Patriots ground game is averaging 115.8 yards per contest, and LeGarrette Blount leads the way with 869 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, New England is allowing 17.9 points and 353.2 yards per game. Patrick Chung leads the New England Patriots with 69 tackles, Trey Flowers has four sacks and Jamie Collins has two interceptions.
The Rams are 2-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Patriots are 8-3-2 ATS in their last 13 home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Rams are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the underdog is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
This is a lot of points to give a New England Patriots team that's dealing with injuries and hasn't looked great overall. Brady is still banged up and Gronkowski is questionable with a back injury. The Rams also seem to play their best ball on the road and now have a quarterback who has shown flashes of being a difference maker. The Rams also have a terrific defensive line that could give a questionable New England offensive line issues and put pressure on a quarterback who isn't close to 100 percent. Not sure how anyone can feel confident laying this number with New England in this spot.
Give me the Rams and the two touchdowns.
