The New York Giants and the New England Patriots meet up to close out their preseason schedules in week 4 NFL preseason action from Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.
The New York Giants will look for a win to finish the preseason with an unblemished record after making it 3-0 with a 25=23 win over Cincinnati in their last outing. Daniel Jones led the Giants with 141 passing yards on 9 of 11 passing while Eli Manning had 41 passing yards on 4 of 8 passing. Wayne Gallman Jr. led the G-Men with 31 rushing yards while Jon Hilliman and Rod Smith each had a rushing score. Brittan Golden led the Giants with 59 receiving yards while Paul Perkins had a team-high 3 receptions. On defense, the Giants combined for 5 sacks with Oshane Ximines logging a pair of sacks while Josiah Tauaefa and Corey Ballentine each had a team-high 5 tackles.
The New England Patriots will also look to finish the preseason unbeaten after improving to 3-0 with a 10-3 win over Carolina in their last outing. Jarrett Stidham led the Pats with 134 yards on 15 of 19 passing while Tom Brady threw for 75 yards on 8 of 12 passing. Nick Brossette led the Patriots with 53 rushing yards while Sony Michel had 36 rushing yards and James Develin had the team’s lone touchdown in the victory. Jakobi Meyers and Phillip Dorsett each had a team-high 7 receptions with Meyers logging a team-high 74 yards while Dorsett had 47 yards. Defensively, the Patriots logged 4 sacks as a team, including one from Ufomba Kamalu who also led the Patriots with 5 tackles in the victory.
New York is 7-0 ATS in their last 7 road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 Thursday games. New England is 40-17 ATS in their last 57 games overall and 39-16-2 ATS in their last 57 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games on turf. New York is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in New England.
Both teams have had a solid showing in the preseason, but week 4 is usually the week where starters see the most playing time and side-by-side, I just think that the Patriots have an edge in quite a few departments, including the QB position most notably. New York has owned this matchup ATS over the years, but I just think that New England winning this one by more than a field goal isn’t out of the realm of possibility. I’ll lay the points with what I feel is the better team in New England here.
