The Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints end their preseason Thursday night at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Baltimore Ravens will finish the preseason with a perfect 4-0 record with a win here. In the 30-9 victory over the Detroit Lions, Ryan Mallett led the way with 112 passing yards and one touchdown. Mallett and Josh Johnson are sure to get majority of the reps in this game with the starters not playing. Jeremy Butler and Mike Wallace combined for 80 receiving yards and one touchdown while Darren Waller had two receptions. The Baltimore Ravens ground game averaged 3.8 yards per carry and Terrance West led the charge with 43 yards on seven carries. Defensively, Matt Judon led the Ravens with five tackles, Anthony Levine had one sack and Julian Wilson had one pass deflection.
The New Orleans Saints are a loss away from going winless in this year’s preseason. In the 27-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Garrett Grayson led the way with 128 passing yards and one touchdown. Grayson and Luke McCown are sure to get majority of the reps in this game with the starters not playing. Willie Snead and Travaris Cadet combined for 100 receiving yards and one touchdown while Tommylee Lewis had two receptions. The New Orleans Saints ground game averaged 4.3 yards per carry and Tim Hightower led the charge with 27 yards on eight carries. Defensively, Vonn Bell led the Saints with six tackles, Cortland Finnegan had one sack and Obum Gwacham had one pass deflection.
The Ravens are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September. The Saints are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in September and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
The Ravens have a couple of talented backup quarterbacks and are a win away from finishing the preseason undefeated. Meanwhile, the Saints have yet to win a game. It's the little things in preseason that seem to matter. I'll take a shot with the points in a battle between backups.
