The Line: New York Giants - -- Over/Under:
The Arizona Cardinals travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants on Sunday.
The Arizona Cardinals won a thriller against the San Diego Chargers, 18-17. Carson Palmer looked like a younger version of himself, throwing for 304 yards and two touchdowns, while even rushing for 29 yards on four attempts. If Palmer can stay healthy and consistent, the Cardinals will be a scary team this season. Michael Floyd was on the receiving end of a lot of Palmer’s success, racking up more than 100 receiving yards on five receptions. Overall, the Arizona Cardinals finished with more than 400 total yards and averaged 6.2 yards per play, all while Larry Fitzgerald caught just one pass. Defensively, the Cardinals held the Chargers to 290 yards and scoreless in two of the four quarters. Larry Foote led the Cards with eight solo tackles and Jerraud Powers had two pass deflections.
The New York Giants were crushed by the Detroit Lions, 35-14. Eli Manning may have turned into the quarterback of old, as he threw for just 163 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Manning made poor decisions throughout the game and just couldn’t get in a rhythm, issues that haunted him throughout the preseason. Of course, some pressure could be taken off Manning if the Giants actually had a running game, as they averaged just 2.4 yards per carry and Rashad Jennings was the leading rusher with just 46 yards. The Giants offense has a lot of improvements to make. Defensively, the New York Giants allowed 417 yards and at last eight points in three of the four quarters. Stevie Brown led New York with nine tackles and Robert Ayers had the Giants only sack.
In a pick em, I'm not sure how anybody in their right mind goes with the Giants. This team has been a mess since the preseason, while the Cardinals are a potential playoff team. Arizona is the only way to go here.
