The Line: New York Jets +3.5 -- Over/Under: 44
The Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets battle in week 13 NFL action from MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Kansas City Chiefs will try to rebound after dropping 3 straight and 5 of their last 6 following a 16-10 loss to Buffalo in their last outing. Alex Smith threw for 199 yards and a touchdown that was cancelled out by an interception on 23 of 36 passing, while also leading the team in rushing with 35 yards on 5 carries. Kareem Hunt added just 17 rushing yards on 11 carries, while Tyreek Hill led the team with 7 catches for 41 yards. Travis Kelce added 3 catches for 39 yards, while Albert Wilson also added 3 receptions for 36 yards of his own in addition to a touchdown. Defensively, the Chiefs combined for a pair of sacks while allowing 268 yards of total offense to the Bills in the loss.
The New York Jets will try to rebound from back-to-back losses of their own, falling to 4-7 on the year after a 35-27 loss to Carolina in their last outing. Josh McCown threw for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns on 19 of 36 passing, while Bilal Powell led New York in rushing with 9 carries for 34 yards. Robby Anderson had a monster outing, catching 6 passes for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Jermaine Kearse hauled in a team-high 7 passes for 105 yards and a score as well. On D, the Jets combined for 3 sacks as they held the Panthers to just 299 yards of total offense, but ultimately couldn’t get the stops needed down the stretch in the loss.
Kansas City is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record. New York is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Kansas City is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
So we have the Chiefs who once looked like the next team that could go 16-0 and now have fallen and can’t get up, against the Jets whose playoff hopes are all but over at this point. This is a game I will probably watch rather than bet, but for the sake of the pick, Kareem Hunt isn’t what he was at the start of the year and Alex Smith just can’t get this Chiefs offense rolling like it was during the first 5 weeks of the season. Not to mention, the home team has won the last 6 meetings between these two teams, and considering we are getting points with the Jets at home, I think New York is worth a look here.
