The Chicago Bears look to build on a (12-4) 2018 season ending in a missed field goal loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. QB Mitchell Trubisky looks to improve his passing accuracy this upcoming season and boost the 21st total yards ranked offense. Draft pick RB David Montgomery looks to be the steal of the draft and should be able to provide the support Trubisky needs to succeed in the play action. This defense carried this team in 2018, hinging on the shoulders of Khalil Mack. Although Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio was lost to the Broncos, Chuck Pagano is a brilliant mind and should follow suit smoothly. Also the acquisition of DB Ha Ha Clinton Dix from the Packers should provide even more additional depth to the number 1 ranked points per game defense. Week 1 is where the quest for a Championship begins as the Packers come to town.
Week 1 vs Green Bay Packers
This new looks Packers offense should be raring and ready to go as QB Aaron Rodgers and new HC Matt Lafleur will have something to prove. The problem is that installing a new offense for the first time is not good against the #1 ranked scoring defense in 2018. I think it will be easy to see that a new system is being implemented and the Bears will take advantage and win at home.
Week 2 at Denver Broncos
Although I think the Broncos will be terrible this up and coming season, I see this as the letdown game of the season for this team. New HC Vic Fangio knows this defense front and back and should be able to provide key insights to his new Broncos defense which is below average to slow down Trubisky.
Week 3 at Washington Redskins
This game will be easy for this Bears team to win as either Rookie Dwayne Haskins or turnover prone Case Keenum will be behind center. This Bears team should swallow up this offense whole and possible produce a shutout. Give me the Bears.
Week 4 vs Minnesota Vikings
In a battle of two below average offenses, I see this game being decided solely on defense. The better defense in my mind is the Bears. I think they force QB Kirk Cousins to make insanely quick decisions due to pressure, leading to multiple turnovers.
Week 5 at Oakland Raiders
Gruden and company should continue to regret letting Khalil Mack walk in this one as the Bears should take advantage of this below average offense even with Antonio Brown. Derek Carr will be running for his life and it doesn’t help that the Raiders had the worst defense in the league in 2018. Give me the Bears in a blowout.
Week 6 Bye
Week 7 vs New Orleans Saints
This will be a tough matchup for the Bears, as the Saints have a surprisingly good defense. They should be able to keep Trubisky under wraps, but the problem is the Saints offense is damn good. Drew Brees had one of his best seasons so far in 2018 and with the weapons he has I do not know if it slows down anytime soon. Give me the Saints to win this high scoring shootout.
Week 8 vs Los Angeles Chargers
This should be an intriguing matchup for this Bears defense as Phillip Rivers is dangerous. The problem is that the Chargers have huge uncertainty at the RB position. Who knows if Melvin Gordon can stay healthy or even if the Chargers renew his contract? If the Bears can force the Chargers to run the ball they can win. Give me the Bears.
Week 9 at Philadelphia Eagles
This will be a tough matchup as I see the Eagles making a deep run this upcoming season. QB Carson Wentz is a potential MVP candidate and the play calling of both head coaches stem from the Andy Reid tree. Whenever a matchup is this close I always lean to the home team. Give me the Eagles at home.
Week 10 vs Detroit Lions
The Lions are in a world of trouble this upcoming season as they have a lack of offensive weapons to help support QB Matthew Stafford and other than S Darius Slay, key defensive players such as Glover Quin are walking off the field. This game should be a bloodbath and the Bears should win with ease.
Week 11 at Los Angeles Rams
This is the type of team the Bears will struggle to beat. High flying offenses that try to outscore you, because the pace of play of the Bears is slow and methodical. I think the Rams offense will be too much for Trubisky to match against a well above average defense led by Aaron Donald. Give me the Rams.
Week 12 vs New York Giants
With the uncertainty surrounding the giants this game just comes down to talent. The Bears have the better roster on both sides of the ball and should win with ease.
Week 13 at Detroit Lions
This will be a repeat of their week 10 matchup as the Bears win with ease.
Week 14 vs Dallas Cowboys
Away from home, Dak Prescott has been below average in his passing attack. Also the loss of WR Cole Beasley will hurt more than people think for this upcoming season. The Bears defense will force Dallas to beat them throwing the ball and I don’t see it happening. Give me the Bears.
Week 15 at Green Bay Packers
The Packers have another year of improving to go under a new Head Coach to match this Bears defense. Give me the Bears to complete the season sweep.
Week 16 vs Kansas City Chiefs
I see this as an upset game in some individuals eyes as I think the Bears are able to contain Mahomes. Head Coach These coaches emulate one another on the offensive side of the ball and I think it will left to the defenses to decide the outcome. The Bears have the way better defense than the horrible Chiefs defense I do not think will improve that much. Give me the Bears.
Week 17 at Minnesota Vikings
In a do or die game for playoff positioning I always go with the home team. I think the Vikings have a more explosive offense as long as RB Dalvin Cook stays healthy and a comparable defense to match the Bears. Give me the Vikings to close out the season
This line shocks me as the Bears return a majority of their defense, added a pro bowl DB in Ha Ha Clinton Dix and QB Mitch Trubisky and HC Matt Nagy have a year under their belt together. Give me the Over.
