The Buffalo Bills are predicted by some this season, to break out and finally get back into the post season. There is some talent here, but with this schedule, and still having the Patriots and an improving Miami team within their division, it will be tough.
The offense for the Bills rests on the arm of their quarterback. E.J. Manuel is listed as the starter for the Bills, and considering what Buffalo has invested in him, barring injury, I don’t see that changing. Whoever ends up being under center for the Bills this season, has a solid group of wideouts to throw to, even though Stevie Johnson left via trade at the draft for San Francisco. The Bills are also stacked in the backfield, with C.J. Spiller predicted to have a solid year (assuming he can stay healthy) and the Bills traded for Bryce Brown, so look for him to have an impact as well.
Defensively the Bills were outstanding against the pass last season, ranking second in the league in defensive pass efficiency. This unit isn’t going to put up Seattle type numbers on defense at all, but if the Bills can improve at all, especially against the run this season, we should see a marked improvement here.
The Bills should be a decent team in 2014, but I just haven’t seen enough from Manuel yet to think that the Bills have what it takes to get through this tough schedule and make the playoffs in 2014.
