The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints meet Sunday in NFL action at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Pittsburgh Steelers look for another statement victory after splitting their last six games. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won four of their last six road games. Ben Roethlisberger is completing 66.9 percent of his passes for 4,462 yards, 30 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Roethlisberger has two or more touchdown passes in seven of his last eight games. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Antonio Brown have combined for 2,386 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns while Vance McDonald has 46 receptions. The Pittsburgh Steelers ground game is averaging 93.9 yards per contest, and James Conner leads the way with 909 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, Pittsburgh is allowing 22.6 points and 333.5 yards per game. Sean Davis leads the Pittsburgh Steelers with 75 tackles, T.J. Watt has 11 sacks and Joe Haden has two interceptions.
The New Orleans Saints look to all but wrap up the top seed in the NFC after winning 12 of their last 13 games. The New Orleans Saints have won their last five home games. Drew Brees is completing 74.9 percent of his passes for 3,666 yards, 31 touchdowns and five interceptions. Brees has two or more touchdown passes in 12 of his last 21 games. Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara have combined for 1,894 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while Tre'Quan Smith has 24 receptions. The New Orleans Saints ground game is averaging 127.4 yards per contest, and Kamara leads the way with 860 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, New Orleans is allowing 20.9 points and 341.6 yards per game. Demario Davis leads the New Orleans Saints with 103 tackles, Cameron Jordan has 12 sacks and Marcus Williams has two interceptions.
The Steelers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games on fieldturf, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games in December and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Saints are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 48-21-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The under is 5-0 in Saints last 5 games overall. The over is 19-9-1 in Saints last 29 home games. The under is 4-1 in Steelers last 5 games overall. The under is 36-15 in Steelers last 51 road games.
The Pittsburgh Steelers finally got a win over the rival New England Patriots, and despite still losing three of their last four games, those three losses came by an average of 4.3 points. The New Orleans Saints return after a long three-game road trip and have won their last three home games by an average of 21.6 points. The Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-4-2 ATS in their last 10 games when an underdog of at least five points. The New Orleans Saints have covered five of their last seven games when a favorite of at least five points. The Saints have been a machine at home this season and are risky to bet against in these spots. However, the Steelers are capable of raising their game to another level when needed, and you can argue they're the more balanced team with an aggressive young defense that's a bit more trustworthy than the Saints unit. This may come back to bite me, but I see value in the Steelers and the free points. This is the point in the season where contenders step up, and there's still some meat on that bone for a Pittsburgh team that has yet to peak.
