|Date & Time||Sunday December 21, 2014, 4:05 PM (EST)|
The Line: St. Louis Rams -4.5 -- Over/Under: 43.5
The St. Louis Rams and the New York Giants face off on Sunday in the Edward Jones Dome in a NFL matchup.
The St. Louis Rams have spent another season building and they look to have promise heading into the future. The Rams offense is averaging 20.8 points and 314.5 yards per game and they are led by QB Shaun Hill who has completed 59.4 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and four interceptions. Tre Mason leads the St. Louis ground attack with 661 yards and three touchdowns and Jared Cook is the leading receiver with 44 catches. The Rams defense allows 21.2 points and 339.9 yards per game and they are plus two in turnover ratio. Alec Ogletree has 93 tackles, James Laurinaitis has 91 tackles, and Robert Quinn has 10.5 sacks. The Rams have suffered a slew of injuries and if they can stay healthy in the future they are going to be a top tier team.
The New York Giants have won their last two games but a prior seven game losing streak put an end to any hopes they had for a successful season. The Giants offense is averaging 22.6 points and 346.9 yards and they are led by QB Eli Manning who has completed 63.2 percent of his passes with 26 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Andre Williams is emerging as new York’s top back with 568 yards and Odell Beckham has 71 catches to lead the Giants’ receivers. The Giants defense allows 24.2 points and 371.4 yards per game and they are minus five in turnover ratio. Jameel McClain has 101 tackles, Jacquin Williams has 78 tackles, and Jason Pierre-Paul has 9.5 sacks. It has been a tough year for the Giants who have been on of the top winning NFL franchises over the past 25 years.
St. Louis is 4-0 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 4-0 against the spread following a loss, and 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 home games against a team with a losing road record. New York s 4-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games, and 1-4 against the spread after rushing for less than 90 yards in their previous game. New York has covered the point spread in the last six meetings of these two.
This should be a low scoring game so my free pick here will be on the under. I also have pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
