NFL | New England Patriots (2-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)
USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet Thursday in NFL action at Raymond James Stadium on CBS.

The New England Patriots look for their second road victory of the season to get a game above a .500 record. The New England Patriots have won nine straight regular season road games. Tom Brady is completing 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,399 yards, 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Brady has two or more touchdown passes in eight of his last 11 games. Rob Gronkowski and Brandin Cooks have combined for 612 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Chris Hogan has 15 receptions. The New England Patriots ground game is averaging 95.5 yards per contest, and Mike Gillislee leads the way with 194 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, New England is allowing 32 points and 456.8 yards per game. Devin McCourty leads the New England Patriots with 31 tackles, Trey Flowers has three sacks and Stephon Gilmore has one interception.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to remain undefeated at home while building on their 2-1 start. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won six straight home games. Jameis Winston is completing 63 percent of his passes for 864 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. Winston has two or more touchdown passes in nine of his last 14 games. Mike Evans and Adam Humphries have combined for 383 receiving yards and two touchdowns while DeSean Jackson has nine receptions. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ground game is averaging 84.7 yards per contest, and Jacquizz Rodgers leads the way with 165 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Tampa Bay is allowing 21.3 points and 394.3 yards per game. Kendell Beckwith leads the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 22 tackles, Noah Spence has one sack and Robert McClain has one interception.

The Patriots are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, 40-16-3 ATS in their last 59 games in October and 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The Buccaneers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games, 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games on grass and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The under is 6-2-1 in Buccaneers last 9 games overall and the over is 7-0 in Patriots last 7 games overall.

The New England Patriots are dead last in yards allowed per game and only the Colts are allowing more points per game. The Pats defense is downright awful to say the least and it's hard seeing things change on the road on short rest, especially when going up against a Buccaneers offense that has elite weapons in Evans and Jackson. Tampa Bay is also going to get running back Doug Martin after serving his four-game suspension, which gives the running game a needed boost. I get the Tom Brady factor and the Patriots rarely lose two games in a row, but I honestly don't know why New England is even favored here. The Pats are a miracle touchdown pass away against the Houston Texans from being 1-3 on the season. I'm going to take my points here and will also be playing the ML. I have little confidence in New England right now, especially against a solid team on the road. That defense needs major help.

Pick:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +5.5
