The Line: Tennessee Titans -2.5 -- Over/Under:
The Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns face off on Sunday in Nashville in NFL action.
The Tennessee Titans started their season with a win but they have followed it up with three consecutive losses. The Titans offense is averaging just 15 points per game and 326,5 yards which rank them near the bottom of the NFL. QB> Jake Locker missed last week’s game and Charlie Whitehurst got the call and if Locker isn’t ready it will be Whitehurst once again. Shonn Greene is averaging 4.7 yards per carry to lead the Titans rushing attack and Bishop Sankey is averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Delanie Walker has been Tennessee’s primary receiving target with 22 receptions and Kendall Wright has 19. Defensively the Titans are allowing 27.5 points and 352.8 yards with five interceptions and eight sacks but they have been hung out to dry by the offense. Wesley Woodyard has 28 tackles while Bernard Pollard and Michael Griffin each have 23. Tennessee simply hasn’t been sharp and they were never in their game last week.
The Cleveland Browns are coming off of a bye week and they are 1-2 thus far this season. The Browns offense is averaging 24.7 points and 362.7 yards per game which puts them in the middle of the pack statistically for NFL teams this season. Despite the presence of Johnny Manziel Brian Hoyer is the QB in Cleveland and he has completed 64.2 percent of his passes with three touchdowns. With Ben Tate sidelined Terrance West has anchored the Browns rushing attack averaging 4.3 yards per carry with two touchdowns and Isaiah Crowell averages 5.2 yards per carry with three touchdowns. With Josh Gordon out until week 12 Andrew Hawkins is the leading receiver for the Browns with 21 catches and Miles Austin has 14. The Browns defense is allowing 25.7 points per game and they have been gouged for 425.7 yards per game which ranks them 30th in the NFL with five sacks, one fumble recovery, and three interceptions. Donte Whitner has 26 tackles, Karlos Dansby has 23 tackles, and Joe Haden has 17 tackles. The Browns seem to have plenty of talent it is just a matter of putting it all together.
Tennessee is 1-4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 1-5-1 against the spread against the AFC, and 0-3-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Cleveland is 5-2 against the spread following a loss, 2-5-1 against the spread against the AFC, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record. The road team has covered the point spread in six of the last eight meetings of these two.
The Titans should have the same struggle they have been having, not having a QB who can deliver and I expect the Browns to win this one outright.
