Top Ten All-Time Fastest 40 Yard Dash Times at the NFL Combine

USA TODAY Sports

If your house is anything like mine, the Combine was the background noise to your weekend. We saw some impressive performances (Danny Shelton, people), but today we’re going to focus on Combines of yore. Later this week, we’re going to start breaking down the best showings of 2015, but for today, we’re going to look at the top ten 40 yard dash times in NFL Combine history. Before you ask, CJ2K is still No. 1. Quick note before we delve into today’s list: These times are the fastest since the year 2000; prior to that, laser timing wasn’t used, so there are much greater odds of inaccuracy.

1. RB Chris Johnson set the record for the 40 in 2008 in with his 4.24 time.

2. In 2014, RB Dri Archer came close to tying Johnson’s record when he ran the 40 in 4.26 seconds.

3. At 2013’s Combine, WR Marquise Goodwin clocked-in with a 4.27 40 yard dash time.

4. In 2005, WR Jerome Mathis ran the 40 in 4.28 seconds.

(4*) 5. WR Jacoby Ford had a 40 time of 4.28 in 2010.

(4*) 6. At the 2011 Combine, CB DeMarcus Van Dyke ran the 40 in 4.28 seconds.

7. In 2008, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had a 40 time of 4.29 seconds.

(7*) 8. At 2005’s Combine, CB Stanford Routt ran the 40 in 4.29 seconds.

(7*) 9. WR Trindon Holliday ran a 4.29 40 at the 2010 Combine.

(7*) 10. In 2005, WR Fabian Washington clocked-in with a 4.29 40 yard dash time.

(7*) 11. At this year’s Combine, UAB’s final NFL prospect, WR J.J. Nelson, ran a 4.29 40 yard dash, the fastest thus far.

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (cfbplace.com), After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched CBBplace.com, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
