The New York Jets and Washington Redskins play a Friday night preseason game at FedEx Field.
The New York Jets look to build on their 17-13 preseason win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the victory, Bryce Petty led the way with 93 passing yards on seven completions. Geno Smith had the Jets only passing touchdown in the win. Quincy Enunwa and Jeremy Ross combined for 120 receiving yards on five catches while Charone Peake had the receiving touchdown. The New York Jets ground game averaged 2.8 yards per carry and Romar Morris led the charge with 27 yards on 11 carries. Defensively, Rontez Miles led the Jets with seven tackles, Darron Lee had one sack and Doug O'Neal Middleton had one pass deflection.
The Washington Redskins look for a bounce back performance after losing 23-17 to the Atlanta Falcons. In the losing effort, Nate Sudfeld led the way with 89 passing yards and one touchdown. Kirk Cousins also looked sharp by completing all five of his pass attempts. Rashad Ross and Ryan Grant combined for 80 receiving yards on seven catches while Robert Kelley had two receptions. The Washington Redskins ground game averaged 3.3 yards per carry and Kelley led the charge with 40 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Martrell Spaight led the Redskins with six tackles, Su'a Cravens had two tackles for loss and Anthony Lanier had one pass deflection.
The Jets are 1-3-2 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Redskins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Jets are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings against the Redskins.
The Jets have some interesting young backups who played well in their preseason opener against the Jags. The Redskins didn't do much when their starters went out of the game and could struggle again against a deep Jets defense. The value is with the Jets and the points, so that's where I'm going to go.
