The Line: Anaheim Ducks -110 / Boston Bruins +100 --- Over/Under: 5
The Boston Bruins continue their west coast road trip with a visit to the Anaheim Ducks for Wednesday NHL hockey.
The bye week has almost been an automatic loss for teams in their first game back from the long vacation. I say almost because the Boston Bruins and new head coach Bruce Cassidy picked up a 2-1, overtime win at San Jose on Sunday in their return from the week long hiatus. Brad Marchand scored with 2:24 remaining in the extra session on a breakaway to lift the Bruins to win number four in a row. Ryan Spooner lit the lamp in regulation for Boston while Tuukka Rask was strong between the pipes with a 29 save effort. The Sharks only goal came off the stick of Patrick Marleau but Martin Jones and his 25 stops could not prevent San Jose from dropping six of eight contests as they head in to their week long bye.
The Arizona Coyotes haven’t done a whole lot of winning up to this point so when they get a big lead, the game has to go in the win column. The Coyotes did just that with a three goal first period burst to beat the visiting Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Monday to the delight of the Gila River Arena crowd. Christian Dvorak, Jakob Chychrun and Radim Vrbata scored for the Yotes and the goalie combination of Mike Smith and AHL call up Marek Langhamer made the support hold up as Arizona won their 4th in six contests. The Ducks received a pair of tallies from Ryan Getzlaf but Jonathan Bernier was charged with all three Arizona goals and was lifted in favor of John Gibson in the second and put up zeros over the last two periods.
The Bruins are 0-6 in their last 6 Wednesday games and the over is 6-0 in Bruins last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 7-0 in Bruins last 7 Wednesday games. The under is 9-1-1 in Ducks last 11 home games and the Ducks are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record while the under is 6-1-1 in Ducks last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Bruins are 0-6 in the last 6 meetings and the Bruins are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Anaheim while the over is 6-2-4 in the last 12 meetings.
The Ducks have been the choice in this match up and the over has done well but I will lean Bruins until I see goalies…
