The Sabres look to earn at least a point in their eighth game in 10 tries as they head into Anaheim to battle the Ducks.
The Buffalo Sabres are not a great hockey team this season but they are starting to build some confidence around a group that has a very bright future and if they can continue to trend upwards in the final 22 games of the season they could very well build some momentum heading into next year. The Sabres though could play their way out of another top end draft pick if they continue to win games down the stretch and with some high quality pieces at the top of this draft they could spoil an opportunity to add to a group that already includes Sam Reinhart, Jack Eichel, and Rasmus Ristolainen. The Sabres face a tough challenge on Wednesday though as they head into Anaheim to face off against one of the best in the Western Conference.
The Ducks have gone from being one of the biggest disappointments in league history in October to a Cup contender by the end of February and now have a great chance at overtaking the Kings for top spot in the Pacific if they can keep up their strong play. The goals weren’t coming for Anaheim in the early part of the year and still at this point they are sixth to last in the league in terms of total goals scored and could enter the playoffs with the worst mark of any qualifiers if the trends stay as is. However, the Ducks are relentless in their own end and have one of the best young goalies in the league in John Gibson and while the Sabres are getting a ridiculous price here it is for a reason and Anaheim should cruise.
