The Ducks look to keep pace in the competitive Pacific division race as they take on the Flames at home on Wednesday night.
The Calgary Flames have had a disappointing season and will not be competing for the Stanley Cup this year as they currently sit 17 points back of the Minnesota Wild with only six games left on their schedule and will likely be in the running for one of the top draft picks in July. Calgary is coming off a Cinderella run last year in which they surprised everyone and landed a playoff spot and upended the Canucks in the first round before bowing out to the Anaheim Ducks and now they see them once again with the home side clinching a playoff spot last week and looking for a division crown. Calgary will likely go with Jonas Hiller who will face off again his former team, while the Ducks will counter with John Gibson who continues to log starter’s minutes.
The Ducks sit in second place in the division and are just a single point back of the LA Kings in a race that is going to come down to the wire and one the Ducks can overtake thanks to a game in hand they are playing tonight. Anaheim is loaded across the board and will be a tough out for any team in a seven game series and while they had their struggles at the beginning of the season and still have issues scoring, they are a very dangerous team and should be treated as a Cup contender. Anaheim should have no issues in this spot but the Flames are a sneaky team and do have a revenge angle here with Hiller getting the nod. With a solid effort defensively from both sides I think this one cashes is on the under.
