The Carolina Hurricanes look to shake off a tough overtime loss in Los Angeles as they head into Anaheim to face off with the Ducks on Monday night.
The Hurricanes look to shake out of their ugly losing skid as they stay on the road to face off against the Ducks on Monday night who have endured their own struggles in a game that will hopefully serve as a jumping off point for one team to turn their season around. The Canes come into this one as losers of five of their last six games and they are a paltry 2-9 in their last 11 games against the Western Conference and with Anaheim reeling and playing at home in this one I think it is safe to say the Canes will get the best from the Ducks on this night. Carolina has struggled against Anaheim as they have dropped seven of their last eight contests with the Ducks and will need a strong effort out of Scott Darling if they’re going to escape from California and salvage at least a victory.
The Ducks meanwhile are winless in their last six games after scoring two or fewer goals in their previous game and with offense being a struggle for Anaheim so far this season it may be another tough outing for them against the Canes. Anaheim is still without Ryan Getzlaf and until they can find a source of offense to fill the void they are going to be in tough in the Pacific division, but luckily for them they have dominated the Hurricanes and have had success against the rest of the Metro division as they are 5-2 in their last seven contests. John Gibson is expected to get the start here as he will face off against Darling who has become the primary option in the Carolina crease.
The Canes are winless in their last five against the Pacific and 20-44 in their last 64 on the road while the Ducks are 1-4 in their last five on two day’s rest and have played to the over in nine of their last 14 against the Metro. The Hurricanes to me are the better team and are getting a great price here in a game that figures to be close.
