The Anaheim Ducks look to continue their winning ways at home after a 6-1 drubbing of the Predators as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.
The Blue Jackets play their second game in as many nights against a West contender from California as they travel from San Jose to Anaheim without much rest as they aim to get back in the win column. Columbus has been an interesting team to watch so far this season as many had them pegged for another long season but they have looked the part of a dark horse thus far and a large part of it has to do with the play of Sergei Bobrovsky who has been a huge part of this team’s success since he got there. Columbus is in tough though against a very good Ducks side that is once again in the discussion of being a Cup contender in the Pacific division and should be in the mix for the divisional crown at season’s end.
The Ducks meanwhile are coming off their best win of the season as they wallpapered the Predators to the tune of a 6-1 final and will be out for more here against a Blue Jackets side playing in a back to back. Anaheim has been waiting to break out offensively as they have a ton of guys who can score and for that reason they are considered one of the deeper teams in the league and are getting contributions from all four lines of late. The Ducks will likely send John Gibson to the crease here while it is uncertain whether the Jackets will stick with Bobrovsky after getting the nod last night.
The Blue Jackets are 4-2 in their last six road games and 7-3 in their last 10 against the Western Conference while the Ducks are 15-7 in their last 22 home games and 3-7 in their last 10 overall. Columbus is getting better but they aren’t quite there yet and Anaheim should be oozing with confidence after Wednesday’s strong effort.
