NHL action comes to the Honda Center where the Anaheim Ducks host the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.
The Dallas Stars have followed a five game winning streak with losses in two of three following a 5-2 defeat at San Jose on Saturday where the Sharks scored four times in the first. Gemel Smith and Tyler Pitlick scored third period goals for Dallas but Ben Bishop allowed four goals on five shots before Kari Lehtonen stopped 22-23 shots in relief.
The Sharks offensive explosion featured Mikkel Boedker scoring twice with Joe Pavelski, Melker Karlsson and Justin Braun joining the scoring column. Pavelski, Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Timo Meier gave San Jose two assists each to lift Martin Jones and his 26 saves to the win.
The Anaheim Ducks have seen a pick up in their play with victories in five of seven where the defensive end of the ice has been performing at a high level. Anaheim comes in off of a 2-0 win at Vegas on Sunday where one of the most potent offenses was held in check.
Jakob Silfverberg gave the Ducks all the offense they would need at 13:32 of the opening period before Josh Manson lit the lamp at 7:01 of the third period. Rickard Rakell gave Anaheim a pair of helpers and the tandem of John Gibson and Ryan Miller combined for 33 saves with Gibson getting the win. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 18 shots to absorb the loss for Vegas.
Under is 4-0 in Stars last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game and under is 5-0 in Stars last 5 following a loss of 3 or more goals and Stars are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. Under is 6-0 in Ducks last 6 overall and under is 5-0 in Ducks last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and Ducks are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Home team is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings and Stars are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in Anaheim.
I think this is a matter of personal preference as I love the defense coming out of Anaheim more then anything…
