The Line: Anaheim Ducks -145 / Florida Panthers +131 --- Over/Under: 5
The Florida Panthers continue their west coast road swing with a stop at the Anaheim Ducks for Friday night NHL hockey.
Fans of offense were thrilled Wednesday night when the San Jose Sharks and Florida Panthers traded goals for 60 minutes before Florida ended the track meet by a 6-5 count in overtime on a Jonathan Huberdeau tally. The Panthers saw Aleksander Barkov and Nick Bjugstad score two times each with Jussi Jokinen also lighting the lamp. Roberto Luongo allowed all five goals but left the game with 38 seconds left due to severe cramping with James Reimer finishing up. The Sharks erased a late deficit on a pair of goals from Joe Pavelski with Joel Ward, Brent Burns and Marc-Eduourd Vlasic also scoring but Martin Jones and his 16 saves were not enough.
The Minnesota Wild have had zero problem putting the puck behind opposing goalies with their number four offense generally reeking havoc. However, as in all sports, good defense usually wins out over good offense and that was the case Tuesday as the Anaheim Ducks squeezed past Minnesota 1-0. The Wild had their chances but were 0-5 on the power play with Christian Folin hitting the post, so good fortune was not on their side or goalie Devan Dubnyk who was a tough luck loser on 22 stops. The Ducks lone goal came off the stick of rookie Joseph Cramarossa in the first while John Gibson recorded his 4th shutout of the season with a monster 37 save performance.
The Panthers are 5-1 in their last 6 overall and the over is 5-1-1 in Panthers last 7 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game while the over is 5-1 in Panthers last 6 games following a win. The under is 2-0-3 in Ducks last 5 Friday games and the over is 6-0-1 in Ducks last 7 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days while the under is 4-0 in Ducks last 4 games playing on 2 days rest. The over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in Anaheim and the home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The over and the home team have been the best bet but I want to see who is in goal for the Panthers…
