The Line: Florida Panthers -114 / Anaheim Ducks -107 -- Over/Under: 5.5
The Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks meet Sunday in NHL action at the Honda Center.
The Florida Panthers look for another victory to build on their four-game winning streak. The Florida Panthers are averaging 3.2 goals per game and are scoring on 27 percent of their power play opportunities. Mike Hoffman leads Florida with 32 goals, Jonathan Huberdeau has 52 assists and Aleksander Barkov has 178 shots on goal. Defensively, the Florida Panthers are allowing 3.3 goals per game and are killing 81.3 percent of their opponents power plays. Roberto Luongo has given up 105 goals on 1,020 shots faced and James Reimer has allowed 90 goals on 920 shots. The Florida Panthers have allowed three or less goals in six of their last seven games.
The Anaheim Ducks look for a victory here after splitting their last 10 games. The Anaheim Ducks are averaging 2.3 goals per game and are scoring on 15.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Jakob Silfverberg leads Anaheim with 21 goals, Ryan Getzlaf has 31 assists and Adam Henrique has 110 shots on goal. Defensively, the Anaheim Ducks are allowing 3.1 goals per game and are killing 79.1 percent of their opponents power plays. John Gibson has given up 138 goals on 1,641 shots faced and Ryan Miller has allowed 41 goals on 485 shots. The Anaheim Ducks have allowed three or more goals in six of their last 10 games.
The Panthers are 5-2 in their last 7 vs. Western Conference, 1-4 in their last 5 road games and 5-2 in their last 7 vs. Western Conference. The Ducks are 5-2 in their last 7 games as an underdog, 15-32 in their last 47 games playing on 1 days rest and 5-12 in their last 17 home games. The over is 3-1-2 in the last 6 meetings in Anaheim and the under is 4-1-2 in the last 7 meetings. The over is 10-3-1 in Panthers last 14 overall. The under is 5-2 in Ducks last 7 games playing on 1 days rest.
As usual, the Florida Panthers have shown during this winning streak just how good this team can be when the defense actually shows up and gives the rest of the team a chance. It has only been flashes throughout the season, but there's no denying the Panthers have played well over the last week. The Anaheim Ducks are who they are at this point and don't show much improvement, and they've actually had some of their worst results on their home ice. Given the form and there still being a slight opening at making the postseason, I'll ride the hot Panthers for another victory.
