The Ducks look for their 26th victory of the season on Sunday when they host the Central division leading Nashville Predators in a Western Conference show down.
The Nashville Predators have been one of the league’s biggest surprises this season as they have gone from missing the playoffs to leading the Central division and as we approach the mid way point of the year it is looking very promising for them to make the playoffs. Nashville is loaded on the back end led by Shea Weber and Seth Jones but the key to their success this season has been a rebound year from Pekka Rinne who is putting up crazy numbers in the crease and should be considered for the Vezina for his effort. The Preds have also demonstrated they can score which is something they haven’t been able to do with consistency for years but after a 7-6 final over the Kings yesterday it is clear to see they can score against some of the game’s best teams.
The Ducks meanwhile have been business as usual all season long and had perhaps their biggest win of the year in the last game as they took down the St. Louis Blues. Anaheim is led of course by Ryan Getzlaf who was named the NHL’s first star for the month of December and the Hart Trophy candidate will look to continue his personal and team success with another victory here against a tough Predators team. While it is always tough playing in a back to back especially against the Kings and Ducks I do think Nashville can get it done here if Rinne gets the start and if he does I will be on them on the money line. Otherwise, I’d stay away.
