The Nashville Predators look to stay undefeated on the road as they head into Anaheim to face off with the Ducks on Monday night.
The Predators have raced out to one of the most impressive starts in recent NHL memory and much of it has to do with the fact that they are currently 8-0 away from home. Nashville has a ton of depth at both ends of the rink and one of the best goaltenders in the league in Pekka Rinne who has followed up his Vezina Trophy season last year with a great start once again in 2018. Nashville is 20-8 in their last 28 games against Pacific division foes and are 6-0 in their last 6 home games against a team with a losing home record and against the Ducks who have slipped into an ugly losing streak they are heavy road favourites. Rinne is expected to get the start here as he will face off against John Gibson who has some pretty impressive stats considering his team has been playing so poorly.
Anaheim was expected to be one of the dark horses in the Western Conference this season but so far they haven’t looked great and things don’t get any easier on them tonight. The Ducks are 2-6-2 in their last 10 contests and are currently sitting in a dog fight for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with 17 points in 18 games. The Ducks have been great in their own end but their offense has been quiet with just 42 goals which has them second to last in the league in that category ahead of their instate rivals from Los Angeles. The Ducks need to keep Nashville off the power play here and play a disciplined game if they’re going to have any shot at pulling off the upset.
The Preds are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win and 5-0 in their last 5 meetings with the Ducks while Anaheim is 1-4 in their last 5 against the Central and 1-6 in their last 7 against the West. Nashville is going to lose on the road at some point but tonight doesn’t look like it’ll be the spot as they cruise to another win.
