The Preds look for their second win in as many nights in California as they head from LA to Anaheim to battle with the Pacific leading Ducks.
The Nashville Predators had been in a funk over the last week and a half and many were starting to write them off not only from the Central division race but in the playoffs altogether but a strong finish in LA last night handed them yet another victory and they have reclaimed top spot in the division. Nashville is tied with the Rangers, Canadiens, and the Ducks for the top spot overall in the league standings as all four teams have 93 points and while the regular season title is just that it is still nice to be seen as the best team heading into the playoffs even if it is just on paper. Pekka Rinne will likely get the call again as he will go up against Frederik Andersen.
The Ducks have been business as usual for the better part of two seasons and will look to claim their second straight President's Trophy but you can be sure that Ryan Getzlaf and the crew would trade both of them back for a chance at winning another Stanley Cup. Anaheim has as good a chance as any to come out of the Western Conference and they certainly have the makeup of a contender as they have a well balanced line, great goaltending and a solid blue line but they haven't been able to take the next step as one of the league's elite and until they do it'll be tough to back them in a competitive Western Conference. However, I do think they are a much better team than the Predators who got back in the win column last night but I think get dealt a loss in this one.
