The Predators and Ducks meet up in Anaheim for a win or go home game seven at the Honda Center on Wednesday night.
The Nashville Predators snapped their three game losing skid and got back in the win column on home ice in a do or die game six and now set up a crucial game seven show down in Anaheim where the victor will go on to face the San Jose Sharks in the next round. The Predators surprised everyone by stealing both games in Anaheim to start the series but after three straight losses and the Ducks gaining all the momentum it looked as though things were going according to plan for the Pacific division champions. However, Nashville answered and now could very well pull off the upset on Wednesday night in their first game seven in franchise history and in those circumstances as we have seen so many times before, really anything can happen.
The Ducks meanwhile still have the edge in this series as they play a one game show down on home ice against a Predators side that has had trouble scoring goals this season and with the home crowd on their side you’d have to think they should get it done. But this is the NHL playoffs we are talking about and nothing goes by the book and while the playing of a game seven in this series shouldn’t surprise many it has certainly been an unorthodox path and no team has really been able to seize the momentum they have built for themselves. In the end I have to side with Anaheim who is the better team overall and after letting one get away from them on Monday I expect them to rebound nicely and advance to the second round.
