The Islanders look to rebound after a tough loss to the Kings last night as they continue their California road trip in Anaheim.
The new York Islanders are in a slump to say the least right now as they have lost 6 of their last 10 games and are sliding down the Metro division standings with another pivotal game on tap tonight. New York is a talented team that has aspirations of making a deep playoff push and with the roster they have it isn't out of the question but I think they need to reconfigure a few things if they're going to do so and that may only be done by moving some pieces. The Isles dropped a 2-1 decision in Los Angeles last night but can't fret for too long as they have a Ducks team on tap tonight who is coming off back to back overtime losses but is playing much better of late.
The Ducks head into tonight's game sitting in fifth in the Pacific but are only five points out of first as the division as a whole hasn't been too strong thus far and as such everyone is within striking distance. Anaheim struggled to start the year but have really turned it up of late and are starting to look like the team many had pegged to win the Cup and while they still have a ways to go before reaching that pinnacle they look like they are on the right track. This is a tough spot for New York as these are two very taxing hockey games and in the end I think we see another low scoring affair that could very well get to overtime.
