The New York Rangers continue their west coast road swing with a stop to face the Anaheim Ducks in Thursday NHL action.
The New York Rangers will be looking for back to back victories following a 4-3 SO win at San Jose on Tuesday. Brent Burns, Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl scored for the Sharks with Martin Jones allowing three goals on 37 shots as with the team unable to score in the shootout.
The Rangers received a first period goal from Mats Zuccarello with Chris Kreider scoring twice in the third. Kevin Shattenkirk scored the only goal in the shootout to make the 31 saves of Henrik Lundqvist a winner and secure two points for New York.
The early season slide of the Anaheim Ducks reached six games after a 3-2 loss to visiting Philadelphia on Tuesday. Pontus Aberg scored in the second for Anaheim and again on he power play in the third. Ryan Miller absorbed the loss for the Ducks with three goals allowed on 36 shots.
The Flyers offense came off the sticks of Sean Couturier, Ivan Provorov and Nolan Patrick. Patrick also logged an assist and Claude Giroux added two assists to support the 33 stops of Brian Elliott.
