Wednesday NHL action pits the Ottawa Senators at the Anaheim Ducks.
The Ottawa Senators are mired in an eight game slide after getting outscored 5-4 by visiting Carolina on Sunday. Ottawa scored four times in the second with Matt Duchene, Ryan Dzingel, Rudolfs Balcers and Jean-Gabriel Pageau lighting the lamp. Marcus Hogberg gave up three goals on 16 shots and Anders Nilsson stopped 11-13 shots to get the loss for Ottawa.
The balanced Carolina offense saw Justin Faulk, Brock McGinn, Jacob Slavin, Dougie Hamilton and Justin Williams find the back of the net. Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho each logged a pair of helpers and Petr Mrazek gave up four goal on 27 shots to get the win for the Hurricanes.
The Anaheim Ducks have gone from one of the hottest teams in the game to one of the coldest with the team losing eight in a row following a 4-0 loss to visiting Edmonton on Sunday. The Ducks offense ran in to a hot goalie but John Gibson struggled with four goals allowed on 24 shots.
The Oilers received first period goals from Connor McDavid, Jesse Puljujarvi and Kyle Brodziak. Leon Draisaitl lit the lamp in the second while Caleb Jones and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added two helpers each for Edmonton to make the 39 saves of Cam Talbot an easy winner.
