The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Anaheim Ducks for a Sunday NHL tilt.
The Tampa Bay Lightning continue their west coast road swing with a stop to face the Anaheim Ducks. Tampa Bay has won three in a row after downing the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 on Thursday night.
The Lightning were at the top of their game at both ends of the ice with the offense sporting five different players scoring. The balanced TB attack featured goals from Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Alex Killorn, Victor Hedman and Vladimir Namesnikov while Kucherov added two assists.
Los Angeles fell behind 4-0 after just 20 minutes and tried to come back with Tyler Toffoli scoring in the second with Oscar Fantanberg lighting the lamp in the third but it was too little, too late. Peter Budaj stopped 24 shots to get the win for Tampa Bay while Jonathan Quick absorbed the loss with all five goals scoring on 43 shots.
The Anaheim Ducks are aiming fro back to back victories when the Tampa Bay Lightning take the ice on Sunday. Anaheim is coming off of a 4-1 win versus the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.
The Canucks struggled at both ends of the ice although things looked good early on Sven Baertschi’s tally at 12:12 of the opening period but that was the start and finish for the good news. Jacob Markstrom absorbed the loss for Vancouver with all four goals allowed on 35 shots.
The Ducks saw Jacob Silfverberg score twice within 35 seconds of each other in the third period with Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Montour adding power play tallies. Richard Rakell and Corey Perry also supplied a pair of assists for Anaheim to lift Ryan Miller to the win with 13 stops before leaving in the third with an undisclosed injury.
Over is 3-0-1 in Lightning last 4 Sunday games and over is 4-0 in Lightning last 4 road games and Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Western Conference. Over is 4-0 in Ducks last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 8-1 in Ducks last 9 Sunday games and under is 5-1 in Ducks last 6 vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Anaheim and under is 5-0-1 in the last 6 meetings and home team is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
I don’t think this is a slam dunk because Tampa Bay is red hot and the Ducks are banged up but I am leaning Lightning until goalies are confirmed…
