The Line: Anaheim Ducks -130 / Washington Capitals +115 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Honda Center and the Anaheim Ducks host the Washington Capitals in NHL action on Tuesday.
The Washington Capitals had been struggling to string together wins but have won three of four for their best streak in weeks. Washington comes off of a 5-2 win versus Toronto where Zach Hyman and Nazem Kadri scored for the Maple Leafs while Frederik Andersen allowed five goals on 25 shots before Curtis McElhinney stopped 9-9 in relief.
The balanced Capitals offense featured five different goal scorers with Evgeny Kuznetsov, Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson and Jakub Vrana all reaching the scoring column. Backstrom, Carlson and Kuznetsov each added two assists to make a winner of Braden Holtby and his 27 saves.
The Anaheim Ducks are playing well and have their sight’s set on solidifying a spot in the postseason. Anaheim has won six of eight after upending Chicago 6-3 where Nick Schmaltz scored twice with Tomas Jurco also lighting the lamp. Anton Forsberg allowed four goals on 21 shots before JF Berube gave the Blackhawks eight saves in relief.
The Ducks saw Jakob Silfverberg and Corey Perry score two times each with Rickard Rakell and Marcus Pettersson also reaching the scoring column. Ryan Getzlaf added three helpers for Anaheim with John Gibson getting the win with 37 stops.
Over is 4-0 in Capitals last 4 vs. Western Conference and over is 5-0 in Capitals last 5 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and over is 4-0 in Capitals last 4 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. Ducks are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Metropolitan and under is 4-0 in Ducks last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and Ducks are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. Capitals are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Anaheim and Capitals are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
I have a hard time reading the Capitals so for now I’ll go with the Ducks and look deeper in to this matchup…
