|Date & Time||Monday March 13, 2017, 10:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Arizona Coyotes -130 / Colorado Avalanche +115 --- Over/Under: 5
The Colorado Avalanche take the ice at the Gila River Arena against the Arizona Coyotes in Monday NHL hockey.
The Senators have played well the majority of the season and have really been on a roll the past few weeks so opponents probably don’t want to see their name on the schedule. The Senators stayed hot Saturday with a 4-2 victory at the Pepsi Center and the Colorado Avalanche behind a balanced attack and a strong defense that kept the puck from reaching goalie Frederik Andersen who recorded 14 saves to lift the Sens to a first place tie with the Montreal Canadiens in the Atlantic Division. Ryan Dzingel and Fredrik Claesson each scored for Ottawa while Mike Hoffman and Alex Burrows logged goals and an assist each. The Avalanche received goals from Sven Andrighetto and Matt Nieto but Calvin Pickard took the loss on a 27 save effort with Colorado officially out of the postseason race with the defeat.
The New Jersey Devils are not going to the postseason with all hopes they had going down the drain with a dreadful slump taking a toll the last month. The Devils slide reached ten games following a 5-4 loss at the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night. The Coyotes almost squandered a four goal lead but hung on thanks to goals from Anthony DeAngelo, Brendan Perlini, Jakob Chychrun, Radim Vrbata and Tobias Rieder with Mike Smith making 26 saves to pick up the win. The Devils received their offense from Kyle Palmieri with a pair of tallies with Beau Bennett and John Moore also lighting the lamp. Corey Schneider was lifted after allowing four goals on ten shot with Keith Kinkaid coming in to make 20 stops.
The Avalanche are 0-5 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and the Avalanche are 2-15 in their last 17 vs. Pacific while the under is 7-1-3 in Avalanche last 11 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation. The Coyotes are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and the over is 6-0 in Coyotes last 6 vs. Central while the under is 2-0-2 in Coyotes last 4 Monday games. The Avalanche are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Arizona and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Arizona.
The Avalanche have performed well against Arizona but I’m leaning Coyotes until I see goalies…
