The Coyotes look to continue their surprising start to the season as they face off against the Edmonton Oilers in the desert.
The Oilers continue their western road trip as they travel from Anaheim to Arizona to battle the Coyotes the night after a hard fought battle with the Anaheim Ducks. Edmonton got a huge win in Anaheim last night and with this being a back to back they are likely to go with Cam Talbot tonight with Anders Nilsson playing last night. Overall, the Oilers have been competitive but can't find a way to string together victories and haven't been able to steal a couple of the close ones they have played in and as such they sit in last place in the Pacific division. Edmonton is 2-5 on the road while the Coyotes are just 2-4 at home.
The Coyotes have had a huge boost of energy to start the season with both Anthony Duclair and Max Domi playing incredibly well in their rookie seasons and if they can keep it up the Coyotes could actually challenge for one of the final wild card spots in the West. But likely not. Arizona still has a ton of gaping holes and need to address them before they will be in the mix, even in the Pacific which seems open for the picking right now. Arizona has been great on the road but their play at home is a huge concern and I think that continues here as Edmonton to me has more fire power and they should get the victory.
