The Florida Panthers look to get back in the win column as they take to the road to face off against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday.
The Panthers look to turn their season around and get back in the race in the Atlantic division as they take to the road to face off with the lowly Arizona Coyotes who are playing their way into another top end draft pick this offseason. Florida has been devoured by the injury bug and they are likely without their top two forwards in Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleks Barkov as they are on the shelf indefinitely and that is a huge blow to a team who struggles to score goals as it is. Luckily for the Panthers, they have a strong defensive unit and a goaltender in Roberto Luongo who continues to prove he is still a serviceable number one option and against a team like Arizona who hasn’t looked good at all this season they should be in good shape to get two points on the road.
The Coyotes have had a tough go this year and with the trade deadline around the corner and the team having a few assets they could move for draft picks I can’t see a scenario in which they don’t unload some of their key pieces. Arizona has struggled on the road and at home this season and they are a paltry 4-9 in their last 13 games at home and while the Cats don’t have a ton to offer lately they should be in a better position in this spot than the home team who has just 15 wins in their last 53 games. Mike Smith is expected to get the call as he has been the lone bright spot for the Coyotes as he will face off against Luongo in a game that could come down to goaltending in the third period.
The Panthers are 1-4 in their last five overall and 1-5 in their last six against the Pacific while the Coyotes are 10-27 in their last 37 Monday games and 3-7 in their last 10 games following a win. Arizona is in bad shape and while I am fading the Cats moving forward thanks to their injuries I like them in this spot here.
