Thursday NHL action sees the Minnesota Wild go on the road to take the ice with the Arizona Coyotes.

The Minnesota Wild have been solidifying their third place position in the Central on the strength of five straight victories. Minnesota comes off of an 8-3 win versus St. Louis on Tuesday. The Blues received two goals from Vladimir Tarasenko with Alex Pietrangelo also scoring but Cater Hutton allowed five goals on 25 shots with Jake Allen stopping 5-8 shots.

The explosive Wild offense saw Eric Staal post a hat trick with Mikael Granlund scored twice. Jason Zucker, Mikko Koivu and Jared Spurgeon also scored for Minnesota while Zucker had four assists. Devan Dubnyk recorded 22 saves to keep Minnesota hot.

The Arizona Coyotes are not going to the postseason so the team will look to throw a Monkey Wrench in to the playoff hopefuls remaining on the schedule. Arizona has lost two of three after a 3-1 defeat to the Vancouver Canucks where a third period power play from Alex Goligoski was the lone bright spot.

Daniel Sedin came up big for the Canucks attack with a pair of tallies with Darren Archibald adding a shorthanded goal. Troy Stetcher added a pair of helpers for the Canucks to make a winner of Jacob Markstrom and his 41 stops while Darcy Kuemper absorbed the loss with 24 stops.

Wild are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win and under is 4-0 in Wild last 4 vs. a team with a losing record and Wild are 5-0 in their last 5 overall. Coyotes are 4-1 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and over is 4-1 in Coyotes last 5 vs. Central and under is 4-1 in Coyotes last 5 vs. Western Conference. Wild are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Arizona and Wild are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings.

The Coyotes will have plenty of opportunities to beat playoff hopeful teams but I’m going with surging Minnesota…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
