The Line: Arizona Coyotes -149 / Nashville Predators +135 --- Over/Under: 5
The Nashville Predators travel to Gila River Arena to take the ice with the Arizona Coyotes.
The Nashville Predators travel to Arizona on Thursday looking to begin a long hot streak. The Predators took the first step towards that goal with a 3-0 decision over the Avalanche on the road Tuesday. This one belonged to the respective defenses and goalies with the Predators scoring in the opening frame and then adding a pair of empty netters. Pekka Rinne was the difference maker as he brushed aside all 26 shots he faced in recording his third shutout of the year. Filip Forsberg gave Nashville all the scoring they would need less then 2 1/2 minutes in while James Neal and Gabriel Bourque hit the empty net to seal the win. Calvin Pickard was the hard luck loser as he stopped 33 shots in Colorado's 4th consecutive defeat.
The Arizona Coyotes will be looking for the crowd at Gila River Arena to provide a spark for a much needed win over Nashville on Thursday. The Coyotes are in a bit of a funk after a 5-2 loss to visiting Boston Saturday has the team staring at defeats in six of seven. Brad Marchand paced the Bruins big offensive night with a pair of tallies with Loui Eriksson, Simon Gagne and Kevan Miller each finding the back of the net. Tukka Rask picked up the victory with a 24 save performance that ended the Bruins losing streak at three games. The Coyotes received goals from Mikkel Boedker and Joe Vitale while Devan Dubnyk was given the hook after allowing four goals on 24 shots. Mike Smith came on in relief to stop 8-9 shots but by that time the game was out of reach.
For Nashville the under is 4-0 in Predators last 4 games following a win while the Predators are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Pacific and 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. For Arizona the Coyotes are 0-7 in their last 7 home games with the under goings 4-0 in Coyotes last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 4-0 in Coyotes last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game. Head to head the home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings with the Predators going 0-5 in the last 5 meetings in Arizona while the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. The trends are saying the Coyoyes and the under but Arizona has really been struggling. I lean under but please check back when goalies are confirmed...
