The Predators look to halt their hideous six game losing streak as they head into the desert to do battle with the Arizona Coyotes.
The Nashville Predators had been the talk of the league this season as they stormed through expectation and have held the league's best record for a large portion of the season but after a six game losing streak they run the risk of falling out of the top spot in the Central and perhaps even into the wild card picture. It isn't time to push the panic button though if you're the Preds as every team goes on stretches where they don;t play well and even in those stretches they are times where they do play very well and you just can't get the bounces and that has been the case for the Preds in the last couple of outings. Nashville to me is a team that has greatly overachieved but they are a legit playoff contender and despite their recent slide they should be treated as such heading into the postseason. Pekka Rinne gets the call as he will go up against Mike Smith.
The Coyotes dropped yet another home game over the weekend as they were blanked 2-0 by the Montreal Canadiens in what was another spectacular effort by Carey Price who is on his way to not only securing the Vezina but could claim the Hart Trophy as well as the league's MVP. The Coyotes have been dismal this season and have a staggering -80 goal differential which sits second worst in the league only in front of the Buffalo Sabres and with just 10 wins at home all season they sit in a tie with the Edmonton Oilers for the worst mark in that category so overall I think it is pretty safe to say that things aren't going so well in the Glendale region. Arizona has been a doormat for teams looking to get back in the win column and the circumstance screams a win here for a struggling Preds team who knows they NEED to win here.
