The Flyers look to continue their solid play of late as they head into Arizona to take on the Coyotes in search of their seventh win in their last 10 contests.
The Philadelphia Flyers got off to another rocky start this season and many had written them off as early as the first of November as it looked like they were destined for a top end draft pick but they have begun to turn things around and can jump back into the mix with another win here. The Flyers were the talk of the league just a few seasons ago as they completed an absolute demolition of the heavily favoured Penguins in the playoffs but since then they have spiraled into irrelevance and were ousted in the first round of the postseason last year. Steve Mason returns to the crease to take on Mike Smith and if the Flyers can grab two points it would pull them to within five points of the Eastern Conference wild card spot currently held by their divisional foes from Washington.
The Coyotes look to secure their third win in a row but they are still marred in the middle of an ugly losing streak as they have dropped seven of their last 10 contests and sit in second to last in the Western Conference passing only the woeful Edmonton Oilers. Arizona was expected to do some damage this season after years of overachieving but they have a ton of holes up front and expiring contracts at the back which means that if they stay at their current pace I think they will be big time sellers at the trade deadline if not before and we can expect the likes of Keith Yandle to be shipped out of town. Arizona is 6-8-3 at home this season and while the Flyers haven't been world beaters on the road we get them at even money here. Despite winning their last two I think the Flyers have been the better of the two teams this season and I like them to continue their recent success in this one.
