The Coyotes return home looking to build off of last night's surprising performance as they welcome the Penguins to the desert.
The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't get the start they were looking for in their season opener in Dallas on Thursday night as they were blanked by Antii Niemi and the Stars and now head into Arizona looking for their first goal and first win of the season. The Pens added Phil Kessel in the off season which makes the fact they were shutout even more impressive as some people may have believed this team would score at least one or two goals in each game throughout the entire year but with one game down they have already been shut out and the offense will be anxious to get rolling against a Coyotes team that could surprise some people this season.
The Coyotes went into L.A. last night and left with a convincing victory as Max Domi had a debut for the ages for Arizona and he and the Dogs will be looking for an encore on Saturday night. Arizona is expected to be basement dwellers this season as they are a young team with plenty of holes but if Friday's win was any indication they could very well challenge some of the top dogs in the West and perhaps play a significant spoiler role as the season goes along and with Pittsburgh playing their second straight road game this could be a nice spot for them at home. But I doubt it. Arizona is still a level behind most teams in the league and especially the Pens who I think reply after getting blanked in Dallas with a great effort on the road tonight.
