The Pittsburgh Penguins pay a visit to the Arizona Coyotes in an NHL hockey tilt.
The Pittsburgh Penguins continued their march towards the postseason and a possible back to back Stanley Cup championship with a 4-1 victory at the Pepsi Center and the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. The Penguins can win at either end of the ice and are simply a force when their scoring and defense are on the same page. The Pens offense received a pair of tallies from Patric Hornqvist with Phil Kessel and Chris Kunitz also lighting the lamp to make a winner of Matt Murray and his 27 stops. Murray saw his shutout disappear when Gabriel Landeskog scored on the power play late in the third but Calvin Pickard needed more help in the nets.
After suffering back to back shutouts, the Montreal Canadiens were obviously concerned about their offense. The Canadiens rediscovered the scoring touch in a 5-4, overtime victory at Arizona Thursday to end a four game slide. Max Pacioretty scored twice and posted a pair of helpers with Alex Galchenyuk scoring 2:13 in to the extra session. Andrei Markov and Alexander Radulov also scored and Carey Price picking up the win. The Coyotes received a pair of goals from Christian Dvorak with Max Domi and Alex Goligoski also joining the scoring column while Mike Smith stopped 35 shots in absorbing the loss.
