The St. Louis Blues and Arizona Coyotes finish off their home-and-home series in a Wednesday NHL hockey bout.
The St. Louis Blues are a team that is gritty and methodical which are great qualities to have over the long NHL hockey season. The Blues have been heating up at the perfect time with the postseason just around the corner with victories in ten of 12 contests after downing the visiting Arizona Coyotes by a 4-1 count on Monday night. St. Louis was strong at both ends of the ice which has usually been the case when facing the Coyotes which they have defeated in ten straight.
The balanced offense of the Blues produced a pair of goals off the stick of Jaden Schwartz who has lit the lamp four times in the last four games. Vladimir Tarasenko and Alex Pietrangelo also joined the scoring column while Alexander Steen posted four assists. Jake Allen recorded 21 stops to pick up the win and helped St. Louis climb within a point of the third place Nashville Predators in the Central Division.
The Coyotes lone goal came from Anthony DeAngelo just over a minute in to the third period which temporarily got Zona back in the game at 2-1. Mike Smith managed 24 saves but for whatever reason, the Blues have fared well in this match up and have won ten in a row and 16 of 18 overall. The Coyotes are in a bit of a funk as they have dropped six of seven.
The under is 5-0-2 in Blues last 7 vs. Pacific and the under is 12-1-3 in Blues last 16 games playing on 1 days rest while the under is 6-1-1 in Blues last 8 road games. The under is 4-0 in Coyotes last 4 vs. Central and the Coyotes are 0-7 in their last 7 Wednesday games while the under is 5-0 in Coyotes last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. The Blues are 8-0 in the last 8 meetings in Arizona and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Arizona while Blues are 23-7 in the last 30 meetings.
I don’t think the Coyotes can be overlooked here but the numbers favor the Blues and the over so for the time being I lean St. Louis with goalies pending…
